Hello world!

Hello friends

So, once again I’ve been away from the blogosphere for a while. There are all sorts of reasons, but one is that I had some quite overdue tax returns to do. No, I’m not saying how overdue, but let’s just say that banks keep back copies of statements electronically these days…

But now they are done and with the accountant and that monkey is off my back. Huzzah! So I got up this morning full of pep and ready to do some baking for the fundraising High Tea I am hosting on the weekend. (For 150+ plus people. Yes, I volunteered. No, I don’t know what got into me either.)

But then I looked around my house – something I haven’t done much of lately, between the taxes and just feeding people and trying to keep up with all the other volunteering and carry-on of my general life – and I had to laugh. I have many good qualities, I’m sure, but housekeeping clearly ain’t among them.

My sister is dropping in this afternoon for a flying visit (from another State) and I’m thinking that before she gets here, it might be a good idea to sweep up the dead cockroach from the entrance hall, pack up the 4 teapots and a jug on my bench (for the High Tea), get rid of the decorative spray of cocoa pops on the kitchen floor, deal with the piles of mail before they become a OH&S hazard and give the bathroom at least a lick and a promise.

And I think I have at least two things I need to post to the interwebs on behalf of the Romance Writers of Australia this morning too.

The baking might have to wait.

What are you up to today?

  1. Reblogged this on Queen's end and commented:
Imelda, I’m so glad you are back! Your Romance Novels are the best! Of course I have 3 blogs now, so I am more confusing than ever! We will get caught up!

  2. AND YOU HAVE A BOOK OUT! I did see that tweet and I am beside myself with excitement about it! I have downloaded it and will read it just as soon as this weekend is over. Congratulations for getting it done and out there. I’m really looking forward to it.

    • Well, there was the couple of months during which I’m pretty sure I was being probed by aliens, not to mention the ones I spent in therapy to recover from the aliens. But mainly I just got really freaking busy in the life away from the computer and I lost the flow. I started posts but never seemed to find time to finish them. You should see my drafts list! Actually, you probably will as I will probably finish them all now. Anyway, I am still alive, evidence to the contrary (and efforts of aliens) notwithstanding and will endeavour not to drop off the planet in such a rude way again! 🙂 How have you been? (Feel free to use the back of the paper if necessary)

      • BY ‘ECK! Those pesky aliens! I myself have been abducted by them on many occasions. The first time I was whisked away to visit Jupiter in the summer of ’99, followed by a return in ’01. They’re friendly people who look exactly like Harrison Ford – all 77 billion of the planet’s inhabitants! A highly disconcerting thing. Ironically, they all talk like Darth Vader. There’s some irony. Other than this I started a new job as a copywriter whilst secretly working as a spy for the government. I also caught up on all of House of Cards as Kevin Spacey is ace. Peace, vegetables, and hoping one is free from alien invasions.

  3. I spent most of the day in hospital…waiting and then recovering (the actual surgery took less than an hour, I think). My fiance is overseas atm, so my wonderful mum picked me up from hospital and took me back to her place to rest. Love ya, mum! As far as I know, no aliens were involved in my procedure…although my surgeon IS just a tad eccentric

    • Ya for mum! And all the mums! I hope you’re feeling better. I like the new habit of doing day procedures in that you get to go home to a proper bed, but the waiting and anticipating isn’t fun!

Go on, have your say. You know you want to...
