Last Friday, I said I had stopped talking about what makes men sexy. Due to popular demand (two people, but that’s a quorum where I live!), I have changed my mind and will be continuing the series, but I am breaking in to do two quick updates and something new.
First, updates:
For everyone who expressed concern over the technical issues, chez Imelda, thank you and I am now the proud owner of a gorgeous, thin, light, long-battery-lifed laptop, which is making me very happy. No doubt there will be a rhapsodising post at some point.
For those who liked the post on Pigtail Pals, Melissa has a post up on her blog today about just how hard it was to bring her business baby to life and keep it afloat which is touching reading and an encouragement to anyone struggling to keep up a good fight.
And now, onto the new thing: The Kindness Project
The Kindness Project has been set up by a group of bloggers, who want to see kindness become a habit – at least that is how I interpret their mission statement:
Too often kindness is relegated to a random act performed only when we’re feeling good. But an even greater kindness (to ourselves and others) occurs when we reach out even when we aren’t feeling entirely whole . It’s not easy, and no one is perfect. But we’ve decided it’s not impossible to brighten the world one smile, one kind word, one blog post at a time. To that end, a few of us writers have established The Kindness Project, starting with a series of inspirational posts.
I think this is a marvellous idea. Random acts of kindness are lovely, but why need they be random? Surely, if we are to ‘be the change we wish to see in the world’, as Gandhi suggested, we should be kind all the time? Or as often as we can manage! These ladies (so far, all ladies, but they are open to new joiners, so maybe we can gather some blokes for the list? Kindness is sexy, lads!*) have kicked off with some lovely inspirational posts. I will be joining them on the second Wednesday of June (missed this month!) but in the meantime, enjoy their offerings and special thanks to Liza Kane, through whom I found out about the project.
I think it’s a great way to head into the weekend. I hope you agree. And if you have any ideas for spreading kindness in your corner of the world, I’d love to hear from you – comment box below!
*Clearly I am blind as a bat and didn’t see the delightful Matthew on the list when I wrote that. But I’m leaving it in to encourage MORE blokes to join in! And because owning my own weaknesses might help others feel better about their perceived ones!
Be sure to check them out
We post the second Wednesday of every month. Want to join us? Grab our button and spread a little kindness.

Huzzah, the first comment! Albert Camus talked about this in his semi-autobiographical book (pronounced “boo-kuh”, as he had a French accent) The Fall. He’d do acts of kindness for folk and bascially get off on it. So not really a selfless act but, then, you know, like, it’s better than nothing.

Here’s an act of amusement. I laugh myself stupid whenever I view this. Read the guy’s outraged comments under the pictures:

Oh, I shouldn’t laugh… How did I miss these comments before? Sorry, Alex, my old! You know I love you really!

I wish I’d seen this before. Thank you for spreading the word. Jessica Corra will be blogging tomorrow about an idea I think is a pretty fantastic way to spread some kindness.

Good! I’ll check it out!
